For the first time, the opposition has walked out of the Budget in India. Many people have expressed their discontent with the budget. Pranab Mukherji and Dr.Manmohan Singh must have thought about it. Both are very capable leaders. Pranab Mukherji lacks technical education as compared to Dr. Manmohan singh, but it is balanced by his experience. Both were professors at some point of time, and I salute professors for their vast knowledge and maturity.
On the other hand we have Swaminathan Aiyer. Apart from his degree in economics, he has earned a lot. He was the correspondent of The Economist and was called ‘India’s leading economic journalist’. He has rated this Budget 5.5/10. He feels that the budget lacks vision on fiscal front. The question is not why he think so, the question is, if he is so capable and so experienced, why he is not in the panel. He can surely be more than just a journalist. BTW, what is this Panel?
Its not about presenting the Budget, its about formulating the budget. There are many other financial experts sitting in many corners of India and also outside India who are keeping a close watch on India’s Budget. Why not bring all of them together and have a debate on the Budget. This way, there wont be lack of vision on fiscal front.
But yes, before presenting the Budget, it is passed by Loksabha which consists of UPA, NDA, Third front, Fouth front and other independent parties. What more a government can do? Also the survey has been conducted keeping into account people of all backgrounds. Either the ‘Aam Aadmi’ (Common Man) is not the part of this survey OR the survey is conducted by AC Nielson. 😛
