Budget

For the first time, the opposition has walked out of the Budget in India. Many people have expressed their discontent with the budget. Pranab Mukherji and Dr.Manmohan Singh must have thought about it. Both are very capable leaders. Pranab Mukherji lacks technical education as compared to Dr. Manmohan singh, but it is balanced by his experience. Both were professors at some point of time, and I salute professors for their vast knowledge and maturity.

On the other hand we have Swaminathan Aiyer. Apart from his degree in economics, he has earned a lot. He was the correspondent of The Economist and was called ‘India’s leading economic journalist’. He has rated this Budget 5.5/10. He feels that the budget lacks vision on fiscal front. The question is not why he think so, the question is, if he is so capable and so experienced, why he is not in the panel. He can surely be more than just a journalist. BTW, what is this Panel?

Its not about presenting the Budget, its about formulating the budget. There are many other financial experts sitting in many corners of India and also outside India who are keeping a close watch on India’s Budget. Why not bring all of them together and have a debate on the Budget. This way, there wont be lack of vision on fiscal front.

But yes, before presenting the Budget, it is passed by Loksabha which consists of UPA, NDA, Third front, Fouth front and other independent parties. What more a government can do? Also the survey has been conducted keeping into account people of all backgrounds. Either the ‘Aam Aadmi’ (Common Man) is not the part of this survey OR the survey is conducted by AC Nielson. 😛

Story Time:-
A man and his son were once going with their Donkey to market. As they were walking along by its side a countryman passed them and said: “You fools, what is a Donkey for but to ride upon?”
So the Man put the Boy on the Donkey and they went on their way. But soon they passed a group of men, one of whom said: “See that lazy youngster, he lets his father walk while he rides.”
So the Man ordered his Boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn’t gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: “Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along.”
Well the Man didn’t know what to do, but at last he took his Boy up before him on the Donkey. By this time they had come to the town, and the passersby began to jeer and point at them. The Man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said: “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor Donkey of yours—you and your hulking son?”
The man and Boy got off and tried to think what to do. They thought and they thought, till at last they cut down a pole, tied the Donkey’s feet to it, and raised the pole and the Donkey to their shoulders. They went along amid the laughter of all who met them till they came to Market Bridge, when the Donkey, getting one of his feet loose, kicked out and caused the Boy to drop his end of the pole. In the struggle the Donkey fell over the bridge, and his fore-feet being tied together, he was drowned.
“That will teach you,” said an old man who had followed them:
“Please all, and you will please none.”

So now, UPA cannot please all of the people of India, forget about pleasing the opposition(the regular customers of McDonald will fly if they please the opposition 😛 )
So lets see how this year turns out to be for India. Will we break the 2 digit growth barrier? if we do, can we control the inflation? if yes, then will the oil prices stay under control? if yes, then will there be food crisis in india? if yes, then will there be rainfall? will farmers commits suicide? Wait, what has rainfall to do with Budget? If you are in opposition party, then you have to blame government for almost everything! and then walk out! 🙂
